Which two Sintra attractions should you visit in one day?
Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira can work in a full Sintra day when the separate entry times leave room for the Pena park approach, visits, lunch and transport. For a shorter day or a gentler pace, choose one estate. Use the planner below before booking two fixed appointments.
| Your priority | Suggested pairing | What to allow for |
|---|---|---|
| Palace interiors and unusual gardens | Pena Palace + Quinta da Regaleira | Separate admissions, a journey back towards town and walking within both sites. |
| Views and fortress walls | Pena Palace + Moorish Castle | An outdoor second visit with steps. Reconsider in poor weather or if your group is tired. |
| A gentler schedule | One palace + Sintra old town | More room for lunch, transport delays and a longer visit. Fewer bookings does not mean a wasted day. |

Build the day around your Pena Palace entry time
Before you leave Lisbon
Book your priority attraction first. Check your rail journey, onward transport and return options for the actual date. The train station is not the palace entrance.
Before your Pena entry slot
The operator says to allow around 30 minutes from the park entrance to the palace entrance. Your interior admission time applies at the palace, with no late-arrival tolerance. Add the journey up from town and a separate queue buffer.
After the palace
Our planning allowance is 3-4 hours for Pena including the park approach and some exploring. This is an estimate, not an official visit duration. Have lunch before committing to a second demanding visit.
Choose your afternoon
Allow roughly 2 hours for the second attraction as a planning estimate, plus the transfer. If the first visit runs long, keep the afternoon in town rather than squeezing another timed admission into the remaining gap.

Before booking two Sintra tickets
- Check that your Pena option includes the interior visit you want; park admission and a guided palace visit are not interchangeable.
- Check the second venue’s last admission and any timed-entry requirement separately. Leave transfer time between the two tickets.
- For limited mobility, check the actual walking route, steps and accessible areas with each venue. A bus journey to the gate does not remove walking inside.
